Dr Trevor Smyth - Chiropractor

I was born and raised in Melbourne, Victoria. From the very young age of 5 I was obsessed with basketball. Basketball opened up many opportunities to me, allowing me to represent Victoria in the National Championships, travel the West Coast of America playing against some very competitive high schools and forge some life long friendships. Since taking a step back from basketball I have also dabbled in Crossfit, Cycling and Triathlon.

This passion for sports drove my decision to study a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Movement at RMIT, which I graduated from in 2007 and immediately returned to study Chiropractic, graduating in 2012 (Yep, a total of 8 years at uni!). Since graduating I have spent the majority of my professional career at a company primarily assisting workers from industrial workplaces providing them with treatment of injuries, rehabilitation and injury prevention advice.

I've undergone postgraduate study in Soft Tissues Techniques (ART), Instrument Assisted Techniques (FAT Tool), Dry Needling (Functional Integrative Needling), Movement Analysis (SFMA, FMS), Sports Nutrition (Health Masters Live) and Functional medicine (2 primary modules of ACNEM).

I have a philosophy of looking at the patient as a whole and continue to strive for a deep understanding of human physiology and performance to best tailor my treatment to fit each individual presentation.

My beautiful wife Shara grew up in Cairns and we tied the knot in 2013 at Kerwarra Beach. After spending time with her family in Cairns and Townsville I fell in love with each of them and the lifestyle they offered and made it a goal to relocate up here. In January 2017 Shara and I welcomed our daughter Charlotte into the world.

In my down time I enjoy playing with my family, strumming an acoustic guitar (poorly) and reading.
